The cell phone network in Isla de la Juventud experienced exponential growth, in accordance with the computerization policy of Cuban society, which is also an expression of increased quality of life.
According to an official report from the telecommunications company (Etecsa), the special municipality -at the end of 2020- grew by more than five thousand users and consequently its density is now 55 mobile phones for every 100 inhabitants, the majority with Internet access to through 2G, 3G and 4G networks.
With two new radio bases, this island reaches 95 percent of territorial cellular coverage, while conditions were prepared to install another eight, in order to ensure the connection by 3G and 4G, in this capital city, the towns of Juan Delio Chacón , Bibijagua Beach, La Fe and the tourist pole Cayo Largo del Sur.
In addition, the investment that guarantees communications within that tourist pole and from that islet to Isla Juventud and the rest of the national territory is concluded. Likewise, the 10 Popular Councils that the territory has have public areas with internet access through technology that allows the wireless interconnection of electronic devices (WiFi).

In the territorial computerization plan, about 100 new institutions are connected, some of them by fiber optics, among whose programs are those related to the ministries of Education, Higher Education, Tourism and Communications, among others already connected in their entirety.
