Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic of Cuba, today toured Isla de la Juventud, a territory affected last August 27 by Hurricane Ida, category one on the Saffir Simpson scale.
Accompanied by Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister, and a group of vice ministers, the Cuban president acknowledged in exchange with residents of La Fe, the second largest town in the special municipality, the speed with which the electrical linemen work, who have already recovered 71 percent of the service, almost entirely affected.

The locals thanked Díaz-Canel for his presence in the territory, while expressing support for his management at the head of the country.
In dialogue with Daniel Rodríguez, delegate of agriculture, he learned about the status of the tobacco planting campaign, its start delayed due to Ida's attacks on the special municipality and the assurance that the vegueros are willing to fulfill their commitments.
He verified that there was no damage to the Las Celia organoponic, the largest of its kind in the special municipality, thanks to the fact that its workers collected all the vegetables and condiments suitable for consumption and sold them at their corresponding points of sale.
Among the consequences of Ida is the damage to the forest, evident in its journey, so he told the authorities to take advantage of wood, an abundant raw material for the forest industry.
Accompanied by Zunilda García Garcés, president of the Municipal Defense Council, Díaz-Canel concluded his tour in the Dispatch department of the Electric Company, where Robert Maresma Gainza, its general director, assured that they are working hard to conclude today with 90 or 95 percent of the restored service, of the 98 affected.
Previously, the President of Cuba visited the farm of a peasant and the turkey farm, the latter with damage to the light cover of the ships, without damage to the birds. Díaz-Canel arrived today at the special municipality after completing a tour of Pinar del Río, a province also affected by Hurricane Ida.
