Sports festival in the community Children, adolescents, young people and adults residing in this city, enjoyed this weekend a Sports Festival in greeting to the Day of Physical Culture and Sports, as part of the activities for the 190th anniversary of the founding of Nueva Gerona. Juan Carlos Labrada Torres, head of the Inder recreation program here, corroborated the participation of pioneers and students from 16 primary, secondary and university schools in various traditional and sports participation games. The Festival began with the popular Maracuba marathon race in different categories and spaces for volleyball, soccer, martial arts and other activities such as rope pulling, stilts and strollers among others. The teachers of the sports teams Arturo Lince and Irene García from Nueva Gerona, together with glories of the Pinero sport, awarded the winners of the marathon by category and gender, which included the elderly who joined the race for life and sports. The Festival demonstrated that the practice of sports and healthy physical activity contributes to strengthening health and harmony in the community and in the neighborhood.
