Air transportation between Havana and Isla de la Juventud was suspended after the outbreak of the coronavirus in the country, according to Liván Fuentes Álvarez, vice president of the Municipal Defense Council, during a television intervention on the Islavisión channel.
He explained that due to a favorable epidemiological situation, trips had been allowed, although still limited, to facilitate the return of people from other provinces stranded here, the return of pine trees and those who had to attend medical shifts to Havana, who had to quarantine in their homes.
“From now on, only medical flights will be maintained in order to send the samples to the capital. We know that it is a difficult decision, but we must take extreme measures and protect the borders in order to minimize risks and avoid entering the territory of the pandemic.
He specified that only one case will be approved exceptionally, after being proposed by the Public Health direction taking into account the medical urgency and valued by the Municipal Defense Council.
Likewise, it reported, among other measures, the mandatory use of the nasobuco when leaving homes, social distancing in public places and establishments, the development of nocturnal recreational activities until midnight, limiting transportation to the beaches, increasing inquiries, extreme sanitary hygiene measures in workplaces and public centers, among others.
The Isla de la Juventud has been without reports of new positive cases of coronavirus for more than one hundred days and, given the complex epidemiological situation of the nation, efforts are being added, from all scenarios to prevent outbreaks here.
