When Isla de la Juventud lives on day 147 without new positive cases confirmed to COVID-19, the Municipal Assembly of People's Power (AMPP) in its XXIII ordinary session evaluated the community practices as positive.
The presence of the new strain of the coronavirus in the special municipality from the confirmation of the first case on April 4 and registering 42 cases abruptly strained the forces in the territory, recalled Dr. Israel Velázquez, director of the Health Sector Public.
He added that thanks to the fulfillment of the package of measures directed by the Municipal Defense Council (CDM) and its supervision in the defense zones, among others from the epidemiological point of view, it was possible to control the pandemic in a short period of time.
Yanelis Lavadí, district delegate, recognized the importance of the diagnosis, when it is made in accordance with reality, for the effective performance of community work in communion with the social actors of the neighborhood and the National Revolutionary Police.
She commented that as a result of the daily investigations, it was possible to list those who suffered from acute respiratory infections and illegal residents in the community, identify people living abroad visiting the municipality and elderly alone, but with family in the territory.
Román Cuza, also a district delegate, alluded to the organization of the processes as a determining factor in order to assist those who live in vulnerable conditions, and in order to facilitate the population's access to the points of sale of food and other products of First need.
To carry out the new community dynamics, the social participation of young people in the investigations of the population was meritorious, in the quarantine zones as messengers, in supporting the internal order in food markets, disinfection points and access to the city, acknowledged Liván Fuentes, president of the AMPP.
