A group of advanced producers in Isla de la Juventud today received the Antero Regalado distinction, awarded by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, at the proposal of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP).
The peasants Miguel García González, Irenaldo Laurencio Martínez Llevat and Genito Delgado Arias were awarded the honorary distinction, which was imposed by the member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Zunilda García Garcés, president of the Municipal Defense Council.
This decoration conferred on peasants, cooperatives and workers with more than 10 years linked to the organization with a meritorious work trajectory, acquires greater relevance in the current scenario, guided by the intensification of the US blockade of Cuba and aggravated by COVID -19.
The setting was conducive to delivering the ANAP 60th Anniversary stamps and the special José Ramírez Cruz to another group of small farmers with sustained work in food production, the main objective of the comprehensive development program and the local development strategy of facing 2030.
Receiving the ANAP's 60th Anniversary commemorative stamp is a commitment to continue producing food for the people, Ricardo del Toro, a rice producer with excellent results, told the Cuban News Agency.
Collectively, the Credit and Services Cooperatives Grito de Baire and Julio Antonio Mella stood out with the status of National Vanguard in the integral emulation of May 17, and the latter also stood out, receiving the Niceto Pérez García Flag of Honor, conferred by the National Bureau of the organization.
García Garcés, first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Party, called on the peasantry to continue betting on food sovereignty based on the use of science and technological innovation, in response to the popular movement Dare to be more… a boost to local development.
