As part of the homage day for the FMC's 60th Anniversary, Isla de la Juventud recognized women who came to the Island in the 1960s to compensate for the damage caused by Hurricane Alma (1966).
Young federated women recognize the work of more than 300 founders of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and the women who were part of the youth columns in the 1960s as part of the activities for the 60th anniversary of this Cuban mass organization.
Maritza Garoz Mogena, general secretary of the Municipal Committee of the FMC reported via internet that the tribute includes the movement Continuity knocks on your door with the aim of delivering a postcard generated by the National Directorate for maintaining an active participation in the tasks of the organization in these six decades of work.
«We are handing out the card through the grassroots leaders and some personally, such as the members of the Agrupación de la Decada del 60, who came to the Island to recover what was lost and advance much further after the devastating passage of Hurricane Alma (1966 ).
"The most important thing is that all these colleagues feel that the new generations recognize their worth, that we need them to know history and build a better future, and with their support, success will be guaranteed," she said.
The female leader stressed that as part of the day of tribute and recognition, the 23 de Agosto Distinction was given to seven women with outstanding work in the organization, while informing that the FMC in Isla de la Juventud will grow this year with 434 young people, of which 311 are already incorporated and the rest will join in the last quarter of the year.
To generate electricity efficiently, to produce without waste and to rigorous control of consumption given the situation facing the country and the world with fuels, urged Jorge Esteban Hernández, director of the National Office for the Control of the Rational Use of Energy (ONURE ) on the Isle of Youth.
He pointed out that the current situation, for which the plan assigned to the territory suffers a 30 percent reduction in mid-August, demands to unite wills in the state sector in order to win not only in energy discipline but also in adjusting the plans to maintain food production and vital services to the population.
During the conversation held with the manager, he explained that although the Municipality so far is among the territories of the country that do not show overdrafts in consumption, there is a marked increase in demand in the residential sector.
“This has come to exceed 21 MW, out of 17 planned, especially at nighttime peak hours, which here, unlike in the nation, moves at eleven o'clock at night; Hence, we implement rigorous measures in the state, such as running production processes outside of those hours.
“Thus, for example, the workers of the Combinado Cárnico have had to undertake their productions at dawn and those of the Marmol has brought forward an hour before, that is, for seven in the morning the start of their tasks in order to take advantage of the day and not interfere with the peak hours of the day. "Esteban Hernández stated that the growth in demand in pine homes “may be understandable, especially if we take into account the increase in the standard of living, with a marked index in districts such as Abel Santamaría, Micro-70 and a part of La Fe, to starting with the purchase of household appliances and air conditioning equipment, which in the last three months exceeded 5,000."It also responds to the high temperatures and to the longer stay of families in the homes, not only due to the summer stage but since April due to social isolation as part of the measures adopted to curb infections by the coronavirus."He pointed out that it is not a question of denying the benefits of modernity but of consuming only the necessary energy, because sometimes lights and equipment are left on unnecessarily; nor are alternatives applied for the efficient use of them.“The increase in demand implies that plants or machines whose operation is based on diesel must enter the system, which makes electricity generation more expensive and makes it inefficient.“That is why,” he continued, “as part of the Save Now campaign, we are developing, together with the mass organizations, other community factors and the Union of Young Communists (UJC) dissimilar actions, such as the neighborhood debates."We created two youth detachments and they have already visited more than 17,000 houses, with the purpose of encouraging the residents to consciously save because it is the way that families can be consistent with the current situation in the country."He specified that the State is making a huge effort to ensure electricity generation for the pine farmers, for which about 80,000 liters of fuel are required, and we already know the obstacles to being able to acquire it due to the persecution of the United States. The premise? It is more than clear for both the state and residential sectors, in both there are reserves, so let's not postpone the…. Save now.
